About
RUSSELL MINERAL EQUIPMENT is the world’s leading designer, manufacturer and supplier of mill relining technologies.
RUSSELL MINERAL EQUIPMENT (RME) is the global leader in the design, manufacture and supply of mill relining technologies and services.
Since the introduction of the RME Mill Relining System in 1990, RME has quartered traditional mill relining times. All occupational health and safety issues associated with manual or poorly mechanised relining have been eliminated.
The RME Mill Reining System is extensive and complete, including Feed Chute Transporters and Bases, THUNDERBOLT Recoilless Hammers (a range of four power levels), T-MAG Moil Axis Guides, O-ZONE Worn Liner Lifting Tools and RUSSELL Elevating Platforms. The centrepiece of RME’s Mill Relining System is the RUSSELL Mill Relining Machine. RME pioneered new liner placement in large grinding mills in 1992, allowing new liners to be lifted and easily placed in exact position on the mill shell.
The realization of the performance potential built into every one of RME’s Mill Relining Systems, requires a skilled Mill Relining Crew. RME MILL RELINING Crews combine a great depth of Mill Relining experience with expertise in the application of all RME Mill Relining System technologies.
With global Regional Service Centres, RME supports our customers’ RME Mill Relining System assets through our team of Customer Support Coordinators and Technicians.
MILL RELINE DIRECTOR is RME’s mill relining simulation technology, the powerful tool which identifies all possible relining optimisation opportunities.
Our focus for over 20 years has been to visibly, defensibly and sustainably improve our customers’ concentrator performance through fast, reliable and safe relines.
Delivering predictable, high performance relines with you is our future.

RME’s commitment is to visibly, defensibly and sustainably improve our customers’ concentrator performance.
Thirty years of mineral processing industry experience ensures that RME is uniquely qualified to understand the challenges faced by mine site decision-makers.
We recognise that relining performance depends on a combination of excellent RME Mill Relining System Technologies, competent operation of those technologies, OEM-backed Asset Support and diagnostic software technologies to provide insight-driven decision-making. This unique full-service package, in pursuit of optimised concentrator performance, makes RME the first and the last word in Mill Relining globally.
RME Mill Relining System Technologies
Competent operation of those technologies
The realization of the performance potential built into every one of RME’s Mill Relining Systems, requires a skilled Mill Relining Crew. RME MILL RELINING Crews combine a great depth of Mill Relining experience with expertise in the application of all RME Mill Relining System technologies. Consistent with RME’s commitment to visibly, defensibly and sustainably improve our customers’ concentrator performance, RME MILL RELINING Crews use MILL RELINE DIRECTOR simulation and diagnostic technology to continuously improve our relining practices and make recommendations for site improvements.
A further initiative in liberating the performance potential of the RME Mill Relining System is the training of mill relining personnel. RME supports a specialised Training Centre with Training Centre staff based at our Toowoomba, Queensland, Australia headquarters.
RME worked with the Queensland Government’s Southern Queensland Institute of Technical and Further Education (TAFE), a registered training authority, to develop specific training courses for the operation of RME Mill Relining Machines and RME THUNDERBOLT Recoilless Hammers, with graduates receiving Queensland State Government certificates in the operation of both of these RME technologies.
OEM-backed Asset Support
RME’s growing network of Regional Service Centres enables RME to meet our customers’ requirements for cost-effective and time-effective service delivery.
RME Customer Support Technicians have access to the latest training and knowledge regarding RME’s world leading technologies.
The safety, reliability and performance of all RUSSELL Mill Relining Machines and other equipment items in the RME Mill Relining System are dependent upon a regime of maintenance and servicing, including:
• Pre-reline and post-reline
inspection and service
• Annual servicing
• 5 year servicing
• 10 year servicing (equivalent to a rebuild)
RME is uniquely positioned as the OEM to provide superior service support through its deep engineering insight into the equipment and the requirements of the reline operation. This insight is the foundation for RME’s Asset Support Platform that provides a maintenance regime ensuring the life of mine potential for your equipment. This Asset Support includes but is not limited to onsite commissioning, reline attendance, critical spares supply and liner inteerface reporting which confirms that the Mill Relining Machine can connect to and manoeuvre every liner with respect to liner weight, liner dimensions and liner centre-of-gravity.
RME has established long term service contracts with many customers – from larger sites with multiple grinding lines through to smaller operations – to ensure availability of technicians and equipment. This also ensures that RME has a ready stock of required spares and supplies for the Mill Relining System equipment at the sites with whom we have service contracts.
Diagnostic software technologies to provide insight-driven decision-making.
RME has developed MILL RELINE DIRECTOR, a ‘discrete event’ based mill relining simulation technology. MILL RELINE DIRECTOR creates a virtual representation of your mill and mill reline. This is your Reference Reline which can be developed in several ways.
MILL RELINE DIRECTOR reviews the effectiveness of each mill relining activity in the Reference Reline in terms of duration and performance. Through RME, Reline Planners and Grinding Plant designers can apply MILL RELINE DIRECTOR to identify performance improvement opportunities, by changing the various parameters
in the virtual reline. These variable parameters include site layout, tool quantities, liner arrangements, labour quantities, labour performance and more. These variables allow the creation of Alternative Reline Scenarios.
In comparing the Alternative Reline Scenario simulation results with your Reference Reline, optimisation opportunities are identified, reported and quantified.
